How to edit course details


Courses are the external or internal classroom training courses that are available for users to attend. Courses can be added to users' learning paths, or users can view the courses scheduled to run and register their interest to attend.

Editing a course:

  1. From the main menu select Courses4 Manage Courses.
    The List of courses page will display.

  2. Locate the course you want to amend in the list and click the Edit icon, in that row.
    The Edit course definition page will display.

  3. If you want to change the category the course is in, select the relevant Category from the listbox.

  4. Amend as required the details for the course in the following fields:
     

Field

Purpose

Title

Enter the course title.

Description

Enter a brief overview of the course and what it covers.

Institution

Enter which institution or company is running the course.

Pre-requisites

This tells the user of any skills, experience, prior courses or assessments that need to be completed before they attend the course.

Target Audience

Enter who the course is aimed at.

Objectives

Describe the main objectives that the course aims to achieve.

Technical Requirements

Enter any technical pre-requisites the user is expected to know.

Course Outline

Enter an overview of the topics covered in the course. Use the formatting toolbar to create the look you want.

Duration

Enter how long the course will take.

Type

Select whether the course in being run internally or externally.

Level

Select the competancy level of the course.

Attach File

If there is a file giving further details for the course, enter the location of the file here, or click Browse to search for it.

 

  1. Click the Update button.
    A message will display telling you the course has been successfully updated.

  2. Click the Back button to return to the List of Courses page.
     

To edit the scheduled events for a course:

  1. Ensure the List of Courses page is displayed. If not select Courses 4 Manage Courses from the main menu.

  2. Find the course you want to edit events for and click the Schedule icon, in that row.
    The List of Events for External Training Course page will display.

  3. To add a new event click the New Event button.
    The Add Course page will display.

  4. Enter the details for the course in the fields provided, then click Add.
    A message will display telling you course has been added successfully.

  5. When you have added each time the course is scheduled to run click Back.
    Each event will be listed.

  6. To edit other details for an event, click the relevant icon:

Function

Wait List - Click to view the employees who are waiting to be registered for the course.

Registrations- Click to view the employees already registered to attend the course.

Attendance List - click to access the Course Attendance page. This is where you need to check off who actually attended the course once it has been run. This information then feeds into the Course Attendance report.

Cost - Click to access the Update Course Cost page where you can enter and edit the various expenses incurred by the course.  

Edit - Click to view and edit the course details for this scheduled event.

Delete - Click to delete this instance of the scheduled course from the system.
